Key Accountabilities
• To ensure manpower, materials and plant are available as needed to meet production requirements.
• To be aware of future requirements and prepare long term and contingency plans to meet them.
• To maintain adequate records so that reports on the factory performance can be supplied as required.
• To be aware of, and fully understand, the product costing system in order to control and continually minimise the cost of all products.
• To communicate fully, with all the workforce, the aims and requirements of the Company to enable them to better understand and contribute to the success of the plant.
• To ensure that the plant and equipment is clean, well maintained and improved in order to maintain reliability and therefore output.
• To be aware of and implement current health & safety, environmental and other legislation in order to ensure that the plant operates with the law.
• To ensure the workforce is effectively motivated, trained and if necessary disciplined in order to maximise their contribution to the business.
• To continually monitor, and take steps to improve, the quality of products in order to “delight” our customers and maximise loyalty.
• To forge links with the local community to eliminate conflict with our neighbours and make the plant appreciated as an asset to the community.
• To continually question the status quo in order to discover inefficiencies, wasted effort or better ways to carry out tasks.
• To communicate fully with your General Manager and Sales and Finance department heads to ensure maximum service at maximum efficiency.
Key Performance Indicators
• Meeting budget and forecast targets.
• Improvements in “key statistics” (yield, utilisation etc).
• Reduction of raw material usages and processing costs.
• Good staff morale (indicated by low absence, low labour turnover etc).
• Accident and incident statistics.
• Reports by external auditors (BSI, HSE).
• Plant appearance.
• Customer complaints and perception surveys.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
• Degree or equivalent in engineering
• Proven management skills and experience
